    Description

    This is a wonderful set of 5 miniature counted cross-stitch pictures. They are each framed in some type of wood, perhaps oak,  and have a twine hanger. Each picture is skillfully done with tiny x-stitch and enhanced here and there with embroidery. The background fabric is an off-white with a small weave. Each picture measures 2 1/2" square. The entire framed size of each is 3 1/2" square to the protruding ends of the frames. The 5 pictures are of Country and Black Americana type themes. They are: 1-A blue and pink quilt sampler with the -I 'heart' (love) Quilts- in the center.
    2-Two adorable dolls, one black one white, in pretty apron-covered long dresses. They both have embroidered dots for eyes, nose and hair. One has an embroidered heart on her apron.
    3-A black woman (or Mammy character) hanging up laundry. Lots of tiny stitches here with multi-colored items on the clothesline, red and white dress and yellow laundry basket. Lots of outlining done in brown straight stitches.
    4-This is a brown and white cow pull-toy. Very detailed, outlining stitches, very cute.
    5- A little white country boy (Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn character) in his bare feet, red checked shirt and bib overalls with a piece of straw in his mouth, walking with a stick and being followed by a goose or duck.
    These are wonderful little works of art and are in very good condition. There are a few small spots to the background but very minor, and some rough spots on one of the frames. A wonderful little set of vintage country-style Americana!
